After a full week of rain in Boston, the sky finally cleared up just in time for my and Misia's departure on Monday (May 5th 2008). To be honest, I was very nervous about Misia's being crated for 20 hours straight (the flight time is supposed to be 17:30 hours). As we arrived at JFK, we immediately took Misia to do her last bathroom business before the long flight. After 15 minutes of walking her around and waiting, she did not go #2, and we had to proceed. The check-in of the dog was straight-forward- thanks to Thai Airways for making this as easy as it was. I waited until the last minute to check Misia in. As I proceeded to the gate, I got a glimpse of Misia's crate being loaded to the cargo compartment. The flight today (TG793, NYC-Bangkok direct) was rather empty. There's about one passenger for every three seats. I got a whole row to myself. Due to strong tailwind (or headwind?), the flight arrived in Thailand a full hour ahead of schedule. I was able to properly import Misia within half hour after landing. Surprisingly, she did not go to bathroom in her crate at all. She let it all out when we got home though.
